Viki Kumar Prasad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at University of Calgary as well as a faculty member of the Institute of Quantum Science and Technology and the Centre for Molecular Simulation. As the principal investigator of the Prasad Research Group, he currently oversees research in the development and application of novel computational chemistry methodologies. Before joining UCalgary, Viki did his postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, PhD in computational chemistry from the University of British Columbia, and MSc in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
Superpower
Viki develops quantum computational methods spanning quantum machine learning, variational algorithms, data-driven workflows, and quantum chemistry. A former 3-Minute Thesis finalist, Viki is active in scientific communication and outreach; he serves as the faculty advisor for the UCalgary Quantum Club and can advise teams on crafting sharp, scientifically-aligned project pitches.S
