Lirandë Pira

Research Fellow, Centre for Quantum Technologies at National University of Singapore

I am a computer scientist with a PhD in quantum algorithms and machine learning from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore where I investigate how quantum systems learn, developing foundations at the intersection of quantum physics, machine learning, and computer science. My research spans trainable near‑term models, fault‑tolerant methods via quantum linear algebra, optimization, explainability, and learning theory, focusing on what works in practice.

Superpower:

I build relationships and teams that build relationships. I spot patterns quickly and connect dots across disciplines so our unique strengths multiply. In the hackathon, I’ll help you frame the problem, choose sensible baselines and metrics, and craft a story people remember. You bring curiosity and a bias toward possibility; I’ll bring structure, fast feedback, and the right introductions: always with high pace, a sense of humor, and a touch of audacity.
