Associate Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design
Daniel completed his PhB and PhD degrees in physics at the Australian National University in Canberra. Following postdoctoral positions at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), the Institute for Basic Science (Korea), and the Centre for Quantum Technologies (Singapore), he joined Singapore University of Technology and Design as an Associate Professor in 2024. His research spans photonics, quantum simulation, topology, and applications of machine learning to physics.
Daniel has extensive experience with (and healthy scepticism of) variational quantum algorithms, having tested them on IBM and IonQ quantum processors. He’s excited about tensor networks and quantum algorithms for topological data analysis. Participants are welcome to approach him with questions related to these areas, as well as the nitty gritty of tailoring quantum algorithms to specific quantum processor architectures.
